National Talent: Mime/Teller in Libraries- GO SEE HIM!
“JUNGLE TALES” with ANTONIO ROCHA
The jungles of Brazil and Africa come to life as Antonio Rocha evokes the sights and sounds of the rainforest and its wildly entertaining inhabitants, uniquely blending movement with precision-paced storytelling and amazing sound effects. Rocha, a native of Brazil, began his performing arts career in 1985. His unique solo shows of stories and mime have been performed at public libraries throughout the United States and at national and international Storytelling Festivals. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Theater from the University of Southern Maine and studied with the late Marcel Marceau, one of the world's best-known mime artists. JEFF: I shared a stage with him this spring in Florida- sharp guy, wonderful mime-story events. This is a major talent in American storytelling-  GO SEE HIM!

July 14, 10am-4pm FREE (by donation) @ The Contemporary Museum          I know, it has a new name but I don’t know what it is. Usually you park at Roosevelt (or Punahou) and take the school bus up. The grounds are full of art activities for kids, but good performers too (Ill do shadow puppets in the Hockney House- NOON, 1:30, 2:15 30 minute show- get tickets early)  GREAT event for kids and adults who want a tan.

MID-SUMMER NIGHT’S GLEEM
July 14, 6-9pm FREE (by donation) @ Foster Botanical Garden The gardens become a magical wonderland with luminaries sparkling along the pathways weaving through the garden. There’s lots of activities, including in the lowest meadow (by the Buddha) the Passing Wind Storytellers (excellent location!) IF YOU’D LIKE TO COME TELL TALES, contact Jeff (jeffgere@lava.net) or just come. Tons of people get very ‘relaxed’ (spacey) which makes it an ideal setting for storytelling!
