Moku o Lo'e (Coconut Island): The Best Kept Secret in Kaneohe Bay - Course


It is time again for the Moku o Lo'e (Coconut Island): The Best Kept Secret in Kaneohe Bay - Windward Community College Continuing Education Course. If you have not taken it, you really should. It is a great course. If you have taken it before, it changes a bit each time.

This program will introduce you to the rich history of Moku O Lo'e, more widely known as Coconut Islands, and the Hawaii Institute of Marine Biology (HIMB) based there. We will also be joined by HIMB scientists who conduct research in the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands. Areas of focus include an overview of Coconut Island, HIMB, and the Papahanaumokuakea Marine National Monument, ocean acidification, reef monitoring, fish studies, alien species and much more. Classes will be held on Coconut Island every Tuesday from 9 am to 12 pm beginning February 2nd and running till March 2nd (5 weeks). Course is $40 plus a $60 lab fee.
