Waikalua Loko Fishpond Work Day


Here is an excellent chance to get to know our neighbor and do something worthwhile.

Waikalua Loko Fishpond Preservation Society announces Lā Hana – a work day at Waikalua Loko fishpond in Kāne’ohe on November 20 from 8 a.m. to 12 noon. ‘Ohana, individuals, school and community groups will have an opportunity to
learn about the ancient Hawaiian fishpond while supporting restoration efforts. Volunteers will spend time removing invasive plants and seaweed from the pond. Please come prepared to work.
What to bring:
covered shoes
sunscreen
work gloves
reusable water bottle
wear long work pants – for mangrove
removal
wear surf shorts and tabis – for limu removal

Anyone interested in helping to mālama our loko i’a (fishpond) MUST pre-register. Please contact Andrea at 263-8202 OR e-mail her at jepsona001@hawaii.rr.com to register. Pre-registration is important! We are ONLY accepting the first 150 volunteers.

Take Kane'ohe Bay Dr. to
Castle High School
At traffic light, turn right onto
Pu'ohala Rd. if you’re
coming from Kailua or left if
you’re coming from
Honolulu
Make your first right onto
Kulauli
Pass Pu'ohala Elementary
School enter golf course and
drive until you reach fork in
the road veer off to the left
and follow signs down the
dirt road to the end
Parking is available at
Waikalua Loko
