WWII Sunken Relics

Check out this recent news article on UH divers cataloging WWII era wrecks off of Maui. See: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/44079069/ns/technology_and_science-science/#.TkGynmFXEqE

Shipwrecks conjure up images of lost treasure, sometimes lost lives, or if scuttled, abandoned possibility. All this creates a  bittersweet sensation that lures us to them. Wreck divers tend to fall into a couple of categories - those that are just there to observe and those still struck with the "treasure hunter" vision. But for each object removed, these submerged artifacts become less and less of a treasure of information and history. Best to leave them as they lay. In the case of military wrecks, they still belong to the military - no touch!
Aloha,

Mark
