Friday the island was closed due to weather. Only folks that had to take care of animals were on island and even then, we were supposed to get on and off before the storm started up again. So as I came on island, I assured the boat driver that I would be quick.
Then I walked into the classroom. It is hard to see from this picture, but the entire floor was covered with water, some areas up to 2" deep. And it just kept going, down the hall, into the offices and through the walls.
I spent a couple of hours with a squeegee raking it out the doors, then used an industrial shop vac, then Jimmy came up to help and finally Malia came in. We had to pull all the furniture out from the walls, put up everything to dry and then Malia called a professional water extraction firm to come in and dry everything out. They brought in industrial dehumidifiers (large blue item in image above).
The temperatures went way up and the moisture down. They will come in tomorrow to start putting things back together!
Aloha,
Mark
